Bed and Breakfast, Patterdale

The Rectory

In the heart of the Lake District, with Coast to Coast Path, Helvellyn, Ullswater Way, Ullswater Steamers
and lots more straight from the front door!

We offer Bed and Breakfast in Patterdale, in a beautiful part of the Lake District, at the south end of Ullswater.  Ideal for a Lake District getaway.  There are views to the mountains front and back, with every bedroom having stunning views from the windows.  The fantastic Striding Edge walk to Helvellyn (voted best walk in England in 2019) can be accessed from our front door, as can Angle Tarn, Place Fell, St Sunday Crag and High Street.  The Ullswater Steamers are a short 10-15 minute walk, and Glenridding just a few minutes extra.  The Ullswater way and the Coast to Coast path pass our front door, and the famous Aira Force waterfall is only 4 miles away.  Ambleside, Grasmere and Windermere are a short drive of about 20 minutes over the beautiful Kirkstone Pass.

We have 3 rooms, all situated on the first floor, and all with mountain views.  Access is by stairs only.  There is no lift.  We are COVID-SECURE and have a high-quality professional grade disinfectant fogger which ensures minimal risk of COVID-19 infection from previous guests.

LARGE SUPER-KING SIZED BEDROOM

The bed can be converted to twin if requested.  It has a virtual en-suite toilet and shower room as we have curtained off the landing so it can be used solely by this room.

This is the Lake District.  It rains a lot!  The hint is in the name.... 'Lake' district!  So.... please be prepared for that!  We have a drying room and will do our best to get your kit dry, but boots, for example, once wet are likely to remain wet!  We can offer a limited laundry service subject to amount and availability (£10 per load).

Please note:  There is no specific time for breakfast in the mornings.  It is entirely up to you when you take it, and is on a 'help yourself' basis, with an assortment of tinned fruit, cereals, toast, tea/coffee.  We do not provide a cooked breakfast, and we are sorry but guests may not use the kitchen to prepare their own meals at any time due to our insurance conditions.

Evening meals can be catered for at £10 per person for a 2-course meal (main, desert, tea/coffee), but only by prior booking and discussion as to any special requirements (see menu for more details).  We can also make packed lunches - sandwich, crisps, fruit and home-made cake/flap-jack (£5).  We will do our best to cater for allergies if advised in advance, but cannot guarantee the absence of any cross-contamination.

There are plenty of local places to eat out if you wish to arrange your own catering.

The accommodation is suitable for children (Morris and Judith have plenty of experience with children and both hold current DBS certificates), but children must be under the supervision of their parent(s) at all times.  The large double room can hold a cot (not supplied), but older children will need a separate room to their parents (ie there are no 'family' sized rooms).

We are sorry but we do not allow any pets in the house.

Bespoke packages can be made especially when combining accommodation with the Mountain Guiding services we offer.  Feel free to contact us and discuss your ideas or questions and we will do our best to help and offer a bespoke price.
