Enhancing your experience
of the Lake District!
Morris (M) and Judith (J) - hence 'MJ'! run a Bed and Breakfast in Patterdale in a gorgeous part of the the Lake District,
along with guided mountain walks, especially the famous Striding Edge of Helvellyn.
We can offer bespoke arrangements which can include any or all of:
We have 3 rooms available in one of the most beautiful parts of the Lake District. The route up the famous Striding Edge on Helvellyn is accessible straight from our front door. The Coast to Coast path also goes past our front door, as does the famous Howtown walk down the side of Ullswater.
There are loads of other local attractions too (Ullswater Steamers, hiring motor boats, Aira Force etc). Morris has walked up all of the local fells and can give advice on what would best suit your aspirations and abilities.
Morris is a fully qualified and insured Mountain Leader with over 30 years of mountain walking experience throughout the UK, including climbing all 284 Scottish Munros, in all weathers. He has over 20 years of winter walking experience, is a keen ice-climber, member of the Mountain Training Association, a member of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and a Community First Responder. He is available to guide you up Helvellyn (including the famous route via Striding and Swirral Edge - weather dependent), or any other local mountains). He also enjoys taking people up Scafell Pike via the beautiful Corridor route.
Morris has spent 30 years walking in every mountain area in the UK, in all possible weather conditions, and in the most remote areas of the UK. He has plenty of experience of needing to know exactly where he is! In this world of GPS and digital maps on phones etc, it is still essential to know how to read a map and compass properly! Morris enjoys passing on tips and knowledge that come from 30 years of experience, and which you won't find in a book! Morris tailors his navigation instruction to the needs and expectations of clients, offering bespoke packages which can include climbing your favourite mountain(s) whilst learning to navigate at the same time. He can also teach night navigation - again essential for any serious mountain walker in the UK.
